What are the Benefits of Walk and Talk Therapy?

  • Movement while processing struggles is a form of bilateral stimulation, which can enhance the processing of emotions and thoughts.  The rhythmic movement can help stimulate both hemispheres of the brain, promoting emotional processing and integration.

  • Being in nature and engaging in physical activity during walk and talk therapy can help with feeling grounded and connected to your body, which can further support processing difficult emotions and experiences.

Who Does Well with Walk and Talk Therapy?

  • Almost anyone! All clients for whom it is medically safe to walk at any pace, established by you.

  • Walk and talk therapy can be particularly helpful for clients who are facing life transition, anxiety, and/or a loss of any kind.

  • You need not be concerned with your level of physical fitness or weight. If you can walk, we can do it. Our sessions are a judgment-free zone that are focused solely on your body moving forward while your therapy progress moves forward at the same time.

How Does It Work?

  • All sessions are 50 minutes. You and your therapist depart on foot from our office and walk in a nearby area.

  • You need only comfortable and appropriate walking shoes and socks. 

  • If weather is bad, or you are not feeling up to the activity that day, you and your therapist can simply stay in the office for an in office therapy session.
